Our Privacy Promise

1. Information We Collect

Information You Create

• Photos you capture or import within the app
• Voice notes you record
• Project and folder names, and any tags or descriptions you edit manually

Sockeye FS does not require an account, sign-up, phone number, or email address to use the app.

Location Information

Sockeye FS uses your device's GPS to automatically match a captured photo to the correct project, and to let you set a project's location on a map or by address search. Raw GPS coordinates are processed entirely on your device and are never transmitted to our servers or to any AI provider.

Information Sent for AI Processing

To generate a description and searchable tags for a photo, the photo is sent — over an encrypted connection, through our own server-side proxy — to Anthropic's Claude API. To transcribe a voice note, the audio is sent, the same way, to OpenAI's transcription API. In both cases:

• Only the photo or audio itself is sent — never GPS coordinates, project names, or any other app data
• Our proxy server does not store a copy of the photo or audio; it forwards the request and returns the result to your device
• The resulting description, tags, or transcript is saved only on your device, inside the app's local database

Camera Roll Storage

Photos you capture are also saved into a dedicated "Sockeye FS" album in your device's own camera roll, so your existing phone or cloud photo backup covers the image itself. This is a copy stored by your device's operating system (and, if enabled, its cloud backup), not by us.

Backup Export

If you use the in-app Backup feature, Sockeye FS bundles your project structure, tags, descriptions, and voice-note transcripts and audio into a single file on your device, which you then share yourself (for example, to your own cloud storage or email) using your phone's share sheet. We do not receive or store a copy of this backup.

Automatically Collected

• App version and crash reports
• A device-local identifier generated on first launch, used only to associate your data within the app's local database — not linked to your name, email, or any account

2. How We Use Your Information

• To auto-file photos into the correct project by location
• To generate AI descriptions, tags, and voice-note transcripts
• To make your photos and notes searchable within the app
• To improve the app and fix bugs
• To comply with legal obligations

3. Sharing Your Information

We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your photos, voice notes, location data, or any other personal information to any third party.

Service Providers

We use the following service providers to operate the parts of Sockeye FS that require a server:

• Anthropic (Claude API) — generates photo descriptions and tags. Receives only the photo being tagged.
• OpenAI — transcribes voice notes. Receives only the audio being transcribed.
• Cloudflare — hosts the proxy server that relays requests to the above providers, and hosts this website.
• Google Maps Platform — powers the in-app map used to set a project's location.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Sockeye FS, our users, or the public. Legal inquiries: legal@sockeyefs.app.

4. Your Rights & Choices

• Access: View all your stored data within the app at any time.
• Deletion in-app: Delete individual photos, voice notes, or entire projects from within Sockeye FS.
• Full deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all data stored in its local database and app storage. Photos saved to your camera roll's "Sockeye FS" album are stored by your device's operating system and must be deleted separately from your phone's Gallery/Photos app if you want those removed too.

5. Data Retention

Your photos, voice notes, tags, and transcripts remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. We do not retain a server-side copy of your photos, voice notes, or location history.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS), for any data transmitted for AI processing. No system is completely secure.

7. Children's Privacy

Sockeye FS is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact privacy@sockeyefs.app.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. Your continued use of Sockeye FS after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
